UPTOTE is my company, I design and make upcycled products for the retail market. Started in 2010, upcycling has been a part of who I am since I was a little girl taking my cable knit socks and cutting them into vests for my dolls. Upcycling takes many forms and hopefully I can share some of my insights with you along the way.

New products, it seems like daily....
As my wheels start to churn, I am finding more and more things to make and more ways to promote them.
This is a small purse, I like to call a phone UPTOTE, it is about 8 *6" amd is the right size for a phone, your small wallet and keys, perfect for putting inside a bigger bag or just carrying by itself. Next on my agenda, making a diaper clutch, and changing pad that are compact and beautiful!

Photo's and new products
As I start the new year, finishing inventory and realizing what I have and where I need to go. I ponder on the thought of changing my whole product line or sticking at it. No, it is the Mommy bag, I still need to go buy pacifiers and bottles as props, so I can get some good photos.
I think today is the day I start taking pictures, and changing the look, yet once again. Photo's are an important part of the whole design process and I just can't seem to take ones I feel are web site ready.

New products
OK, this week I am going to be designing new products for UPTOTE and would love to give some prototypes away. If you come up with a usable and viable design I will make it, post pictures on the blog and give it to you for a one month trial. If you think it is a good design, and give me some productive feedback, I will let you have it for free and give you more to try out and promote.
Please pass my blog onto other young mothers and hopefully we can all help the planet by recycling and being practical yet beautiful at the same time!

Upcycling can be fun.
This is one of my first upcycled bags. I really just let go of what it was and embraced what it could become.
This is a cell phone wallet made from old Levi's and some pj flannel.
What I work to achieve is beauty and functionality in my designs. Why make something if it does not look great too!
In 2011 I am going to focus on streamlining my product line and working on products for the new mom and functional yet practical mom on the go!

Why should you buy an upcycled product
In our consumer driven society, why should you purchase something that has been recycled. UPTOTE believes that something that is recycled can be as beautiful if not more beautiful the second time around. Not only is upcycling beautiful it helps save our environment by not creating more materials, but by using what has previously been manufactured!
These items were denim jeans and some old curtains, now they are a diaper bag and a pencil tote. Who could ask for a more functional and beautiful item to be added to their repertoire of bags!
